AIR

If it does matter where CO2 is released, cities are in trouble.
The dome created over cities means emissions don't mix evenly with the air and so cities suffer worse effects than calculated when considering emissions standards

…Is the Science tainted ----does this really change things?
Climate Controversies - This addresses the constant challenges we get to whether the various aspects of
Climate Change present real fears - The science for each argument is presented
Climate Consequences - Sea levels rose nearly 2 feet during the summer of 2009 - Not from global warming
but for unknown reasons the Gulf Stream slowed down. It usually pulls water away
but in 2009 the autumn winds came early and pushed water toward the coast.
Climate Controversies - New research shows ice sheet on Greenland is disappearing faster than previously thought.
Ocean levels are also rising more quickly.
Climate Consequences - Methane plumes from the Arctic seabed - With 23 times the warming power of CO2,
the USGS says the volume of methane frozen
in clathrates is conservatively twice the volume of all known fossil fuels on earth.
Climate Policy - Impacts on Natural Habitat for the United States of America PLoS ONE, 4 (8) DOI
Climate Consequences - Arctic ice extent declining more slowly in 2009 than during the same period in 2007 and 2008,
primarily due to a recent atmospheric circulation pattern. More here

Renewable Electricity Energy Suppliers in PA
Oil Depletion - 11-9-09 - According to a whistleblower at the International Energy Agency claims it has been deliberately underplaying a looming shortage for fear of triggering panic buying.
Oil Depletion - The BBC News reports on global oil depletion and our lack of preparation for the consequences - Significant given the general absence of reporting on this issue in the major media.
Oil Depletion -  Insider's view of Peak Oil - acknowledges and supports the 'peak' facts - proposes action (a lot more drilling) - warns about expected price rises for oil and gas - His solution: high prices and lots of drilling - just to break even.
Energy policies aimed at cutting US greenhouse gas emissions could also increase the amount of natural habitat affected by energy production - found that nuclear power, coal and geothermal energy required the least area whereas wind and solar power used more space, followed by biofuels and biomass burning for electricity as the most land-intensive. For instance, biodiesel production from soy would take 788 to 1,000 square kilometers to generate the same amount of energy as 1.9 to 2.8 square kilometers set aside for nuclear power.  New term - Energy sprawl - Conserving energy will cut land requirements, the team says, as will policies that allow nuclear plant construction and carbon capture and storage at coal plants. Energy producers can also soften their impact on biodiversity by choosing sites that have already been disturbed, they say.
Energy Sprawl or Energy Efficiency: Climate Policy Impacts on Natural Habitat for the US
Mountaintop removal - excellent explanation of the issue - mountaintops are being removed for coal mining & getting water soruces contaminated, among other things.  Other sites: Mountain JusticeClimate Ground Zero, Dirty Money, Energy Justice Net, The Dirty Lie
Solar - Solar panels being built everywhere but in the US

LEGISLATION / LEGAL

Corporate Citizenship -  Important to All Causes :We need an amendment that abolishes the legal fiction of corporate personhood and returns corporations to being business entities whose charters can be revoked by government if they misbehave.
Read Corporations aren't People.

The Wrong Kind of Green - about the co-opting of green interests by the corporate entities that are the polluters.
American Clean Energy Leadership Act (S. 1462). This legislation contains a renewable electricity standard (RES) that would require 15% of US electricity be generated from solar and other renewable resources by 2021. This target falls short of the President's goal; he has called for 25% renewable electricity by 2025. Two senators - Tom Udall of New Mexico and Byron Dorgan of North Dakota - are planning amendments that would strengthen the RES. Senator Udall's amendment (S. 433) would match President Obama's goal of 25% renewable electricity by 2025. Senator Dorgan has not yet introduced his amendment, but has promised to do so shortly after recess
